Milano Re-Mapped Summer Festival Returns to Pirelli HangarBicocca
Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan will host the third edition of its Milano Re-Mapped Summer Festival on July 10-11, 2024, from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM with free admission. The festival, curated this year by cultural workspace DOPO? and participatory art center Milano Mediterranea, focuses on social issues of artistic labor, urban spaces, and relationships between dominant cultures and marginalized communities. The program includes performances, music, video, and poetry. DOPO?'s evening on July 10 addresses labor and precarity through performances by Claudio Larena, collective Murmur, Camilla Montesi, and Katerina Andreou, ending with a DJ set by Slipmode. Milano Mediterranea's evening on July 11 highlights participatory practices and collaboration with original productions by Soukaina Abrour & Serpica Naro, Seifeddine Manai, Ismael Condoii & Noura Tafeche, Bassam Abou Diab, and a live set by Ghoula. The festival is part of a broader project supported by Fondazione Cariplo and partnered with the University of Milano-Bicocca, which includes research on independent cultural spaces. Since 2022, the festival has involved eight independent entities and nearly fifty artists. In autumn, a public restitution event will present research findings on Milan's independent art ecosystem. Giovanna Amadasi, head of public programs and education at Pirelli HangarBicocca, oversees the initiative.
