Milano Racconta Milano goes online for BookCity 2020

digital · 2026-04-27

BookCity Milano's street-narrative project Milano Racconta Milano has shifted to a digital format due to COVID-19 restrictions. Originally conceived as a walking tour through Milan's Municipio 2, the initiative now offers e-books, podcasts, and videos. The project is divided into two strands: Le Vie Narranti, focusing on literary figures, and Le Vie Pensanti, dedicated to philosophers. Le Vie Narranti features seven video essays by critic Luca Scarlini on authors including Alexandre Dumas (father and son), Aesop, Hesiod, Umberto Saba, Grazia Deledda, and Marguerite Yourcenar. Le Vie Pensanti includes three digital lectures by Florinda Cambria, president of Associazione Mechrí, and six podcasts by young philosophers on Thales, Pythagoras, Heraclitus, Parmenides, Socrates, and Aristotle. Live lessons via Google Meet are scheduled for June 5, 9, and 12, from 17:30 to 19:00, with registration required. Videos will be posted on the BookCity Milano and Casa della Carità websites. Four short video lessons by author Jacopo Cirillo on narratology, semiotics, expressive reading, and entertainment art are already available on YouTube. The project is a collaboration with the Casa della Carità foundation and curated by ArtsFor_.
