Milano Film Fest Returns in June 2025 with Photography Focus

The Milano Film Fest, a new festival celebrating audiovisual arts, will hold its first edition from June 3 to 8, 2025, in Milan. Artistic direction is by Claudio Santamaria, with Manuel Agnelli as music curator. The event will take place in cinemas, theaters, squares, and streets across the city, featuring screenings, competitions, premieres, and focus sections. It is organized by a foundation uniting four local entities: Il Cinemino, Esterni, Fondazione Dude, and Perimetro. Perimetro, led by Sebastiano Leddi, will curate a recurring photography section called Framers, which will project photographic exhibitions in theaters such as Strehler, Anteo, and Piccolo during the festival. Framers includes two distinct projections: Framers Zoom-in, focused on Milan, and Framers Zoom-out, offering a global perspective. Ten visual stories will be selected via an open call open until May 15, open to all photographers regardless of age, experience, or nationality. Selected projects, consisting of 30 to 50 images with narrative text and biography, will be transformed into hybrid formats of up to five minutes, accompanied by sound, original music, graphics, or voice-over. The festival aims to make Milan a hub for photography and moving image, fostering networking and collaboration among local and international professionals.
