Milano Design Week 2019: Arte e design si incontrano tra lusso, natura e artigianato

During the 2019 Milan Design Week, several exhibitions explored the intersection of art and design. Canadian artist Andy Dixon, in collaboration with Donatella Versace, presented a monumental hand-painted shirt (3m x 2m) featuring Versace's iconic print, along with four other pieces, at the Versace store in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Palazzo Versace on via Gesù. The installation was curated by American interior designer Sasha Bikoff. Dutch designer Jolan Van der Wiel showcased 'Journey of a Raindrop – The strange attraction of water' at the Issey Miyake store on via Bagutta, exploring water's forms and movements. The exhibition 'Reloaded Artiere_Craftswomen' by DcomeDesign at the Biblioteca Umanistica di Santa Maria Incoronata highlighted female craftswomen working in ceramics, textiles, furniture, and jewelry. At 1+1 Design Gallery, 'The Pursuit of Possession' by Mr. Lawrence studio (founded by Annalisa Rosso and Francesco Mainardi) paired 20th-century Italian design lamps by Gio Ponti, Achille Castiglioni, Franco Albini, and Gino Sarfatti with site-specific works by Marco Basta, critiquing collecting impulses.
