Milan seeks ideas to repurpose unused spaces in two civic museums

institutional · 2026-04-26

The Municipality of Milan has initiated a public call for proposals aimed at transforming unused areas within the historic civic museums of Palazzo Morando and Palazzo Moriggia. Since its donation in 1945, Palazzo Morando has been home to the Costume, Fashion and Image collection, which has occupied 300 square meters for public services, including a café, while requiring museum-related activities. Palazzo Moriggia, established in 1775 and housing the Museo del Risorgimento since 1950, offers 180 square meters for a café and two terrace units, with 30% designated for museum use. Proposals will be accepted until February 28, 2026. Budget Councillor Emmanuel Conte and Culture Councillor Tommaso Sacchi highlighted the importance of innovative and sustainable approaches.
