Milan screening series explores women and video art
A screening series titled 'Una Camera (tutta per sé)' at La Casa delle Donne di Milano explores the relationship between women and video art, curated by Giorgia Aprosio and coordinated by Giulia Kimberly Colombo, in collaboration with Archivio AAMOD and Cineteca di Bologna. The program, running from October 14 to December 9, features works by Cecilia Mangini, Goldschmied & Chiari, Elisa Giardina Papa, Alevtina Kakhidze, Silvia Giambrone, Randa Maroufi, and Beatrice Favaretto. The title references Virginia Woolf's essay 'A Room of One's Own'. The series examines how video has served as a tool for self-expression and feminist imaginaries since the 1960s, addressing themes of body, identity, and politics. Each screening includes commentary from critics and curators such as Paola Ugolini, Iolanda Ratti (chief curator of Museo del Novecento), and Giulia Zompa.
