Milan's Palazzo delle Scintille Reborn as CityOval Multipurpose Arena
The Palazzo delle Scintille in Milan has been rebranded as CityOval and converted into an 8,200 sqm indoor arena for sports, cultural gatherings, and corporate events. Designed by Paolo Vietti Violi in 1923, the venue has undergone a careful restoration led by architect Sonia Calzoni, with aspirations to become a landmark by 2026. Historically, it has hosted boxing championships and an aeronautical exhibition in 1934, functioning as Pavilion 3 until 1946. Generali acquired the property in 2019 for over €30 million, and it served as Italy's largest vaccination site during the pandemic. The renovation included enhancements for seismic safety and sustainability. CityOval features a central oval 'empty box' of 4,000 sqm, with events reflecting Generali's branding.
