Milan's lunch break museums expand to Castello Sforzesco

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

Milan's municipal museums have been successfully offering guided tours during lunch hours, and this autumn the initiative expands to the Castello Sforzesco. Starting September 10, 2025, every Wednesday from 1:00 to 1:30 PM until December 17, visitors with a museum ticket can join expert-led tours. The program includes the Civic Archaeological Museum, the Museum of the Risorgimento, and the Castello Sforzesco. Highlights include a tour on Magna Graecia antefixes by archaeologist Federica Giacobello (September 10), a session on military accessories by curator Ilaria Torelli (September 17), and a botanical walk in the castle moats by botanist Gabriele Galasso (September 24). Later tours cover Japanese musical instruments, heraldic insignia, and wartime Milan. The Poldi Pezzoli Museum has launched a similar initiative called Quality Time, offering free guided activities from September, including family games, writing workshops, and drawing sessions.
