Milan's Cascina Case Nuove to Become Community Space
Cascina Case Nuove, a historic farmstead in Milan's San Siro district, will be transformed into a community educational space. The project, led by Fondazione Terzoluogo, won a municipal concession and involves an investment of nearly €10 million. The design by Alterstudio Partners includes a public multimedia library, an experimental children's space in collaboration with Bambini Bicocca, and creative workshops for all ages. The renovation will take six years in two phases. Mayor Giuseppe Sala noted that over a dozen disused farmhouses have been revived since 2016, with ten more awaiting restoration. The initiative aims to foster social interaction and cultural exchange, continuing Milan's trend of repurposing rural heritage for community needs.
