Milan's Casa degli Artisti Reopens After Decades of Neglect
After years of neglect, the Casa degli Artisti in Milan has been refurbished and is now open to the public. Situated at Corso Garibaldi 98 in the Brera district, this 3,300-square-meter structure was constructed in the early 20th century by the Bogani brothers. Following their passing in the 1930s, the building faced expropriation and was almost demolished, but it survived due to wartime circumstances. In the late 1970s, artists breathed new life into the venue, which eventually became the Garibaldi Social Center. In 2007, the Moratti administration removed residents for a halted dance school initiative. A restoration plan was unveiled by Mayor Pisapia in July 2015, and the finished project features a bar-restaurant and event space, with a rental price of €49,216.50 for a manager.
