Milan Pastry Shop Transforms into Art Gallery for Four Days
From October 24 to 27, 2024, a pastry shop called OSLO made in heaven in Milan will host "The Icing on the Cake – an artist takeover." This event is brought to life by a startup named Art Programs for Industry, founded by curators Eugenio Martino Nesi, Giorgio Cellini, and Chiara Spagnol. Artists participating include David Horvitz, born in Los Angeles in 1982, Giuseppe De Mattia from Bari (1980), Sara Ravelli of Crema (1993), and the artist collective Pasticcere Trotzkista, made up of Alessandro Calabrese, Caterina Gabelli, and curator Alfred Agostinelli. Horvitz will display a piece titled "Parallel latitudes, 2024," crafted from sand from Beirut, while the others will create edible art for guests to enjoy after the exhibit. The shop is run by sisters Yasmine and Julie Audi, following their mother Nayla's original bakery established in Beirut in 1997. This project emphasizes the connection between art and business.
