Milan opens call for 10 cultural spaces at Fabbrica del Vapore

The Municipality of Milan has launched a public call for the concession of 10 spaces at Fabbrica del Vapore, a cultural hub dedicated to contemporary creativity. The spaces total approximately 3,610 square meters and will be granted for a period of five years. The initiative aims to reinforce the identity of the former industrial complex as an international cultural aggregation point, with areas dedicated to visual arts, performing arts, music, audiovisual and digital production, architecture, and design. Current concessions are expiring, prompting a reorganization. Culture assessor Tommaso Sacchi stated that the renewal offers an opportunity to rethink the spaces, part of a broader valorization project that includes a large garden open to the city and coworking areas. The call distinguishes between spaces managed directly by the municipality (Sala Colonne, Sala Bianca, Messina, Cisterne, Atelier Cisterne, Cattedrale, Palazzina Liberty, Infopoint, Piazzale) and those to be assigned via public tender. Eligible applicants include public and private entities, profit and non-profit, with at least 36 months of documented experience in managing cultural spaces. Applications can be submitted by temporary associations or consortia, provided the lead entity meets the experience requirement. Deadline for applications is September 16, 2024. Site visits must be booked via certified email at least seven days before the deadline.
