Milan launches public call for sponsors to restore monuments and fountains

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

The Municipality of Milan has initiated a public appeal for technical sponsors to support the restoration of 16 monuments and architectural sites, with intentions to broaden this list. This effort seeks to establish public-private partnerships, enabling economic entities to suggest interventions at no cost to the city in exchange for promotional benefits. Councillor Gaia Romani underscored the significance of maintaining Milan's identity, while Culture Councillor Tommaso Sacchi stressed the importance of cultural stewardship. Among the notable restorations are Arnaldo Pomodoro's Grande Disco and the monument dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi. Significant projects also include the restoration of the monuments to Leonardo da Vinci and Napoleon III. The call for sponsors will remain open until the conclusion of the administrative term, with additional schedules to be announced.
