Milan Exhibition Celebrates 60 Years of Spider-Man
A new exhibition in Milan marks the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man, the Marvel superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Titled '1962-2022: Buon Compleanno Spidey!', the show runs from November 25 to 27, 2022, at Fiera Milano Rho as part of Milan Games Week & Cartoomics. Organized with WOW Spazio Fumetto – Museo del Fumetto, it features six large-format panels tracing the character's graphic evolution from 1962 to today, along with original comic pages by artists including Ross Andru, Mark Bagley, John Romita, and Humberto Ramos. A special highlight is the original copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962), autographed by Stan Lee. The exhibition also pays homage to Italian artists Gabriele Dell'Otto and Claudio Sciarrone, who have contributed to the character's renewal in recent years. Spider-Man first appeared in 1962, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, with Steve Ditko refining the design to make Peter Parker an ordinary teenager. The character's relatability—a shy, bullied orphan who gains powers from a radioactive spider—has driven his enduring popularity across comics and films.
