Milan event debates street art legality and public space

other · 2026-04-27

On Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 3:30 PM, the event MURALISMO – Street art, diritto e espressione will take place at Parco dei Triangoli in Milan's Gallaratese district, part of Municipio 8. Organized by SpazioTempo Aps, Municipio 8, and the youth center Ottoemezzo C.A.G., the event aims to foster a healthy debate on street art, which is often either uncritically praised or criminalized. Speakers include journalist and activist Andrea Cegna, author of the 2018 book Elogio alle tag. Arte, writing, decoro e spazio pubblico, which explores the relationship between writing, street art, and anti-degradation repressive logics. Street artist Pao will also lead a workshop on stencil and spray paint techniques. The event follows a recent webinar by Istituto di Antropologia di Milano on art and communication in public space, and the establishment of a dedicated public art office in Milan with a vademecum for street art.
