Milan Cathedral goes 4.0 with VR and AR experiences
The Duomo di Milano has launched two digital experiences, a VR tour and an AR walk, blending physical and digital spaces to explore its history. The VR experience, accessible at the Chiesa di San Gottardo in Corte via headsets from the Museo del Duomo, takes visitors to the Candoglia quarry in Val D'Ossola, source of the marble used since 1387 when Gian Galeazzo Visconti replaced the original brick. Lasting about ten minutes, it was created by the Veneranda Fabbrica in collaboration with AnotheReality. The AR experience, Duomo Time Walk, developed with ARt-Glass (part of Capitale Cultura), lasts about an hour and uses smartglasses to overlay archaeological reconstructions and information onto the physical architecture, showing the cathedral's evolution on-site. Both experiences are bookable at duomomilano.it and were realized by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano with support from Fondazione Cariplo and American Express.
