Mike Flanagan joins Henry Cavill on Warhammer 40,000 adaptations

Games Workshop has recruited horror director Mike Flanagan, known for Netflix series Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House, to work on upcoming Warhammer 40,000 adaptations. He will begin work on scripts soon. Henry Cavill, a Warhammer superfan, remains involved as producer and star, alleviating fan concerns. Production company United Artists has also joined. Games Workshop did not specify whether Flanagan will work on a film or series. The company has nearly completed a Warhammer-inspired episode of Secret Level on Prime Video and begun work on an animated series based on Space Marine Deathwatch characters. These announcements came in Games Workshop's annual financial report, which showed record pre-tax profit of £275.7m, up 4.9%. CEO Kevin Rountree addressed tariffs, noting the company paid about £12m in tariffs but reclaimed £7.8m after a US Supreme Court ruling, and expects to pay £13m next year. Rountree also stated the company does not use generative AI in product design or IP creation, but acknowledged AI tools are automatically included in third-party software and will monitor the situation. Games Workshop's revenue from video games fell slightly, but it plans upcoming releases including Dawn of War 4 and reported that Space Marine 2 continues to generate income.
