Mike Bouchet's Almost Every City in the World at Galerie Vallois

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Mike Bouchet (born 1970, USA) presented 'Almost Every City in the World' at Galerie Georges-Philippe et Nathalie Vallois in Paris from January 19 to February 25, 2007. The installation occupied the Project Room and comprised three elements: a large book listing approximately three million city names, a monitor displaying the endless scroll of names over 500 hours, and a soundtrack of film music samples from Titanic, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings. Bouchet is known for provocative works such as Jacuzzis dedicated to figures like Kofi Annan, jeans dropped from a plane over Colombia, hundreds of Tom Cruise heads at Maccarone Inc. in 2005, and the 'New York Dirty Room'—a compost-filled homage to Walter de Maria's Earth Room. He also produces Zero Cola, a zero-calorie soda used as a painting medium, and Poster Paintings made by assistants. Paul Ardenne wrote the exhibition text.
