Mikala Tai to Lead 2027 TarraWarra Biennial as Curator

Mikala Tai has been named the curator for the tenth TarraWarra Biennial, set to run from July 31 to November 14, 2027, at the TarraWarra Museum of Art in Healesville, Australia. Currently residing in Sydney, Tai is a multifaceted professional—she writes, curates, researches, and teaches, focusing on contemporary art from both Australia and Asia. Her career kicked off at the National Gallery of Victoria, and she most recently worked as the head of visual arts at Creative Australia, where she managed Archie Moore's exhibit for the 2024 Venice Biennale. Formerly, she directed the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art. Tai has personal connections to the TarraWarra region and aims to incorporate themes of origin, connection, and return into the biennial.
