Mika Taanila wins 2015 Ars Fennica Award with exhibition and free e-book
Finnish film director and video artist Mika Taanila has been named the 2015 Ars Fennica Award recipient. The prize, now in its 22nd edition, carries a monetary value of 40,000 euros and is presented annually by the Ars Fennica Art Foundation to a Finnish artist. Curator and writer Charles Esche selected Taanila from a shortlist that included Hans Rosenström, Laura Könönen, Outi Pieski, and Pink Twins. Beyond the cash award, Taanila will present an exhibition at Hämeenlinna Art Museum from 30 November 2015 to 6 March 2016. An accompanying e-book featuring his works will be available for free download on the Foundation's website.
