Mika Ninagawa's Projections on Rouen Cathedral
Japanese photographer and filmmaker Mika Ninagawa will project her vibrant, pop-saturated images onto the facade of Rouen Cathedral from May 30 to September 27, 2026. The projections, featuring electric hibiscus flowers and Giverny prints mixed with signs of contemporary Japanese culture, mark a century after Claude Monet's death. Monet famously painted the cathedral in a series, working from a lingerie shop's fitting room and later a studio at 81 rue du Grand-Pont, using up to fourteen canvases simultaneously to capture changing light. Ninagawa's work continues this legacy with her distinct colorful style.
