MigrArti: Italy's Ministry of Culture awards €1.5M for intercultural film and theater projects
The Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage has launched the third edition of MigrArti, a prize supporting intercultural cinema and performing arts projects that promote dialogue with immigrant communities. With a deadline of January 10, the initiative offers €1.5 million in funding across two sections: Cinema and Spettacolo (performing arts). The Cinema section funds film festivals, short films, and documentaries on integration, while Spettacolo supports theater, dance, and music projects involving immigrants, especially second-generation youth, in creative roles. New this year: a special mention for screenplays by young artists aged 18–28 (Menzione Speciale Sceneggiatura Corti G2) and the MigrArti Cartoon Prize in collaboration with RAI, financing an animated short to be presented at Cartoons on the Bay 2018. The MigrArti Spettacolo festival will take place in Palermo, Italian Capital of Culture 2018. A dedicated section at the Venice Film Festival will announce the winner of the European Year of Cultural Heritage MigrArti 2018 Prize for the best short film on integration. Applications are submitted via online platforms for cinema and downloadable forms for performing arts at beniculturali.it/migrarti2018.
