Middle Eastern Pavilions at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale
Running from May 10 to November 23, 2025, the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice showcases pavilions from the Middle East that emphasize environmental conservation and architectural heritage. Oman presents "Traces," under the curation of Majeda Alhinai. Saudi Arabia's "The Um Slaim School," curated by Syn Architects, introduces a fresh architectural education framework. Kuwait's "Kaynuna," led by Hamad Alkhaleefi and others, critiques the effects of modernization on heritage. Lebanon's "The Land Remembers," by CAL Collective, tackles ecocide and envisions a "Ministry of Earth Intelligence." Qatar's "Beyti Beytak," curated by Aurélien Lemonier and Sean Anderson, investigates hospitality in architecture, while the UAE's "Pressure Cooker," curated by Azza Aboualam, connects food production to cultural identity. Egypt's "Let's Grasp the Mirage," curated by Salah Zikri and others, seeks to balance conservation with development.
