Middle East Now Festival Returns to Florence with 15th Edition

The 15th edition of the Middle East Now Festival, part of the 50 Days of Cinema in Florence, is set to take place from October 15 to 20, 2024, under the theme "Ecologies of Resistance." This event, organized by Map of Creation and led by Lisa Chiari and Roberto Ruta, will showcase 15 short films, with 12 being Italian premieres and 5 international debuts, such as "Diaries from Lebanon" by Myriam El Haj and "Goodbye Julia" by Mohamed Kordofani. Additionally, a special exhibition titled "AIR, RIVER, SEA SOIL" will run from October 17 to November 3, 2024, at Rifugio Digitale. The festival will feature Hamed Sinno's performance "Poems of Consumption" and the "Gaza Kitchen" event, emphasizing the connections between war, environmental degradation, and capitalism.
