Michelin-starred chef Terry Giacomello creates dessert inspired by Cattelan's banana

Maurizio Cattelan's 2019 artwork Comedian, a banana taped to a wall sold for $120,000 at Art Basel Miami Beach, has inspired a dessert by Michelin-starred chef Terry Giacomello. Giacomello's dish, named Comedian after Datuna, references both Cattelan's original and David Datuna's performance of eating the banana. The dessert uses banana peel as the main ingredient, rendered edible through a specific preparation process, with banana pulp transformed into vinegar and gel, and the tape replicated with torrone wafer. It is part of the 2020 tasting menu at Ristorante Inkiostro in Parma.
