Michele De Lucchi designs new Harry Potter book covers

publication · 2026-04-27

Italian architect Michele De Lucchi has created new cover illustrations for the seven Harry Potter novels, published by Salani. The covers feature dreamlike architectural scenes that change with the time of day from the first to the last book, reflecting Harry's narrative arc. The project was realized in collaboration with his studio AMDL CIRCLE and Portuguese digital artist Andreas Rocha. The typography was designed by Elias Hanzer and Fabian Harb. Salani's editorial director Mariagrazia Mazzitelli stated the publisher sought an internationally recognized Italian designer, finding a 'Potterian' quality in De Lucchi. De Lucchi said the covers aim to bridge collective Harry Potter imagery with personal imagination, inserting iconic elements from his architectural research into fantasy settings.
