Michele Chiossi's Zig-Zag Art at Andrea Nuovo Gallery in Naples
Michele Chiossi (b. 1970, Lucca) presents 'Prolegomeni', a solo exhibition at Galleria Andrea Nuovo in Naples, featuring 17 works that explore semiotics and anti-iconology through his signature zig-zag technique. The show includes sculptures, curtain paintings, and video, with pieces like 'Capogiro' (a rotating aluminum skull), 'San Michelissimo' and 'Grateful White' (PVC curtain works blending sacred and pop), and 'Europe' (a suspended steel hieroglyph). Other works reference religious narratives, such as 'Peace Floating' and 'Lily Nike' (icons of Saint Zita's miracle), and 'Zita' (a brass sculpture translating a Lucchese cake into a floral crown). 'The Birth of Venus' pays homage to Botticelli using a rice pearl and silver shell, symbolizing Eastern culture and pilgrimage purification. 'Masino' is a mixed-material puzzle addressing nature vs. consumerism. The LED installation 'Save the Fate' crowns the space with a zig-zag in black Marquina marble and steel. The video 'Theory of Colors' reimagines Michelangelo's Pietà melting like Dalí's clocks. The exhibition runs at Andrea Nuovo gallery in Naples.
