Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel Comes to Life in Immersive Rome Show

A new live show titled 'Giudizio Universale. Michelangelo and the Secret of the Sistine Chapel' has debuted at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome, blending high-resolution digital projections with theatrical performance. Conceived by Marco Balich and produced by Artainment Worldwide Shows, the production was developed with scientific consultation from the Vatican Museums. Director Barbara Jatta noted the Museums' tradition of uniting tradition and innovation, with ultra-high-definition images revealing details of the Sistine Chapel. The show features a voiceover by actor Pierfrancesco Favino as Michelangelo, and incorporates video game developers to enhance immersion. It traces the creation of Michelangelo's frescoes, including the Last Judgment, and includes imagined dialogues between the artist and Popes. The production aims to communicate art through a direct, accessible format, potentially touring globally. The show's visual spectacle includes aerial perspectives of Perugino, Botticelli, and Ghirlandaio's works, offering an unprecedented close-up view of the chapel.
