Michelangelo Lupone and Licia Galizia's 'Al vento' installation at Fondazione No Man's Land in Abruzzo

On September 14, 2024, the second edition of Cantiere Aperto, a contemporary art, music, and poetry festival, opened in Contrada Rotacesta, Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo. The event was inaugurated by 'Al vento,' a tactile and sound installation by Michelangelo Lupone and Licia Galizia, which becomes part of the Fondazione No Man's Land's environmental art collection. The installation features two cylindrical structures with corten steel plates, powered by a small solar panel, that emit a melody when touched. It draws inspiration from the site's 'land of all' concept and tree bark markings referencing Yona Friedman's Dictionnaire. The foundation, established in May 2016 by architect Yona Friedman and gallerists Mario Pieroni and Dora Stiefelmeier, hosts site-specific works by artists including Alvin Curran, Gianfranco Baruchello, Jimmie Durham, Yona Friedman with Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, Alberto Garutti, Donatella Spaziani, Fabrice Hyber, Leonid Tishkov, Honoré d'O, and Gülsün Karamustafa. Foundation president Mario Pieroni described the space as open to all, day and night, without surveillance, where words and music blend with natural sounds.
