Michelangelo Galliani's Four Sculptures at Basilica di San Celso, Milan

Four works by Michelangelo Galliani (born 1975 in Montecchio Emilia) are on display at the Basilica di San Celso in Milan, presented by Cris Contini Contemporary of London. The exhibition, titled "adINTEGRUM," features sculptures created over the past decade, all carved from white Carrara marble. The centerpiece is "Col tempo" (2010), a wax female body lying on a lead bed near the apse. Two fragmentary works, "Fuggi" and "Rebus Vitae" (2018), incorporate glass petals and steel nails, disrupting their conceptual message. "Twins" (2020) depicts the artist's daughter on a turtle shell, blending fairy tale and everyday life. The show explores themes of gravity, ephemerality, and the human condition, with the Romanesque church's brick and stone capitals providing a harmonious setting.
