Michela De Nichilo Opens LEMBI Exhibition Space in Rome's San Lorenzo

Artist Michela De Nichilo (born 1991, Rome) has founded LEMBI, a new exhibition space at Via dei Volsci 62 in the San Lorenzo district of Rome. The inaugural show, titled LEMBI, opens June 5, 2025, featuring a sculptural installation by De Nichilo that examines intersections of gender, species, and power in Western cultural contexts. The works critique the exploitation of female bodies and the precarity of life amid ecological crisis, referencing female animals exploited for reproduction in the food industry. The installation and a performance will evolve throughout summer 2025, concluding in early autumn. De Nichilo describes LEMBI as the first chapter of a saga exploring these themes. The space aims to support women artists and address environmental and political topics through open calls. Future plans include free artist residencies, pending European funding. De Nichilo chose San Lorenzo for its cultural vibrancy and community spirit.
