Michel Aubry and Claude Salomon at Decimus Magnus Art, Bordeaux
At Decimus Magnus Art in Bordeaux, France, from May 4 to June 1, 2002, artists Michel Aubry and Claude Salomon presented a joint exhibition that disrupts narrative stability. Aubry assembled a collection of TV series opening credits (1972–2001) into the sound structure of a news broadcast, with the anchor's voice threading through clips from shows like "Little House on the Prairie," "The Love Boat," "Mission: Impossible," "Bewitched," "The Invaders," "The Saint," "Diff'rent Strokes," and "Daktari." Salomon projected sentences from TV series summaries in the magazine Télé Z, using different colors, where characters are reduced to initials (e.g., "P and J think about sleeping apart"). The works question the boundary between reality and fiction, inviting viewers to reflect on representation and their relationship to images and words. The exhibition was reviewed by Didier Arnaudet.
