Michaela Yearwood-Dan's immersive installation at The Whitworth explores colonial history and liberation
Michaela Yearwood-Dan presents her first institutional exhibition in the UK at The Whitworth in Manchester until 18 October, creating a painting-focused, immersive installation that addresses colonial history, religious institutions, and collective liberation. Katharina Grosse opens her first White Cube show in nearly 25 years at White Cube Bermondsey in London from 22 April to 31 May, featuring sculpture and in-situ sprayed works inspired by Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre. The V&A East in London launches its inaugural exhibition "The Music is Black: A British Story" from 18 April to 3 January, celebrating Black British music's cultural impact through archives, photography, and multimedia. Shaqúelle Whyte's painting "Blackbirds Singing in the Dead of Night" enters Wolverhampton Art Gallery's permanent collection and is displayed alongside other works until 31 August. Liverpool's Leap dance festival runs from 24 April to 9 May across various venues, opening with Cathy Waller Dance and including Phoenix Dance and Akeim Toussaint Buck. The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment performs at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on 22 April with a 3D sound system collaboration with Squidsoup. Dry Cleaning tours the UK until 25 April, promoting their album "Secret Love" and single "Sliced By a Fingernail." Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin performs at Kings Place in London on 23 April and Turner Sims in Southampton on 24 April, touring their album "Spin."
