Michael Wellen appointed curator of international art at Tate
Tate has announced the appointment of Michael Wellen as its new curator for international art. Wellen has been with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston since 2011, where he worked as the assistant curator for Latin American and Latino Art. Before that, he contributed as a researcher and writer at the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art located in Austin, Texas. He earned his BA in History and Anthropology from Rutgers University, followed by an MA and PhD in Modern and Contemporary Art concentrating on Latin America from the University of Texas at Austin. His new role will begin in December.
