Michael Rey's 'Plydis' at Kave ZERO in Milan

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Michael Rey (b. 1979, Sarasota; lives in Los Angeles) presents his solo exhibition 'Plydis' at Kave ZERO gallery in Milan, on view until October 21, 2016. The artist works with plasticine on wooden panels, creating dreamlike silhouettes that explore human fragility and identity insecurity. His surfaces are symmetrical and monochrome, with impressed holes that draw the viewer's gaze into dark points, as if listening. The palette includes earthy tones, ochre, white, purple, black, and meditative oranges. The works are described as poetic essences between painting and sculpture, collecting unresolved unconscious memories. The exhibition is curated by Ginevra Bria, art critic and curator at Isisuf – International Institute of Futurism Studies in Milan. The gallery is located at Viale Premuda 46.
