Michael Petry's Civil War Painting Number 17 at Vorres Museum

At the Vorres Museum in Athens, Michael Petry has presented an impressive piece titled Civil War Painting Number 17 (CWP#17), which stands two metres tall and stretches ten metres in length. This work, created during a three-week residency, is curated by Olga Daniylopoulou and prominently displayed at the museum's entrance. The painting addresses themes of political violence and social unrest in the U.S., drawing connections to Picasso's Guernica and alluding to Greece's civil war. Petry's depiction of masked figures recalls 1939 Berlin, engaging with notions of fascism and governmental authority. Featuring colors inspired by the Greek landscape, CWP#17 will be exhibited until June 2026, blending historical context, political commentary, and artistic innovation.
