festival-fair · 2026-04-20

At BANK's stand during Art Basel Hong Kong, second cousins once removed, Michael Lin and Richard Lin, will showcase their works together. Richard Lin, who was born in Taiwan in 1933, relocated to England in 1949, where he studied architecture and gained acclaim through exhibitions at Documenta III and the Carnegie International. He passed away in 2011 after returning to Taichung, Taiwan, in 2002. His artwork, PAINTING RELIEF 12.12.63, fetched HK$9,120,000 in September 2018. Michael Lin, born in Tokyo in 1964, is celebrated for his large-scale creations that incorporate floral motifs from Taiwanese textiles. He returned to Taiwan in 1993 and again in 2016, with Richard serving as his mentor. Their collaborative exhibition delves into the intergenerational dialogue within Taiwanese art history.
