Michael J. Anderson Named Director of Portland Art Museum

Michael J. Anderson has been appointed director of the Portland Art Museum (PAM), starting October 12. Anderson comes from the Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA), where he served as president and CEO since 2019, having joined in 2014 as film curator and later director of curatorial. At OKCMOA, he expanded the film program, curated over 16 exhibitions, and led a reinterpretation of the permanent collection with a focus on accessibility for Oklahoma City's Spanish-speaking communities. Alix Meier Goodman, co-chair of the search committee, praised Anderson as a thoughtful, disciplined leader who can build on the museum's transformation and expand its public impact. The appointment follows PAM's recent expansion, positioning Anderson to animate the program and campus.
