MIBArt Multimedia Festival launches in Busto Arsizio and Milan

MIBArt, a new multimedia festival, will take place from March 17 to 24, 2017, in Busto Arsizio and Milan. Organized by the social promotion association castello13, founded by Antonella Mantovani, and directed by Gabriele Tosi, the festival is an independent offshoot of the B.A. Film Festival, established in 2003 to promote quality Italian film productions. MIBArt focuses on multimedia art, video art, digital art, and videomapping, aiming to explore the hybrid post-digital realm. The Milanese section will be held at MI MAT, Teatro San Carlo, and Cinema Mexico, featuring artists such as Maria Elisabetta Marelli, Alessandro Solbiati, Lemeh42, and Roberto Paci Dalò. The festival also highlights the Giaccari Collection, created by Luciano Giaccari, who pioneered video art in Varese before his death in August 2015. The collection includes works from Conceptualism, Minimalism, and Arte Povera, preserved on U-Matic tapes. MIBArt intends to create sensory and immersive experiences both online and in physical spaces like theaters, cinemas, museums, and squares. The March 2017 launch serves as a pilot for a full festival planned for March 2018.
