MiBACT launches Silhouette d'arte quiz on Facebook to identify artworks
As Italy enters Phase 2 of lockdown easing, around 80 state museums, libraries, and archives in Turin, Rome, Bologna, Florence, and Venice have reopened. The Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism (MiBACT) continues its online engagement with a new digital initiative called Silhouette d'arte, created by its press and communications office. Following the #iorestoacasa campaign and the ArT you ready? digital flashmob, this game challenges users to identify artworks from state museums and archaeological parks hidden behind black silhouettes posted on MiBACT's Facebook page. Participants must guess the name of the work and its location, with 26 silhouettes to decipher. The ministry describes it as a digital challenge inspired by gamification experiences adopted by museums to engage new audiences. Winners may receive a free guided tour of one of the involved museums. The quiz aims to test art history knowledge and foster loyalty among virtual visitors.
