MiBACT and GAI Launch On Board Residency Program for Young Italian Artists
On August 28, 2017, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MiBACT) and the GAI – Association for the Circuit of Young Italian Artists launched a new call for applications titled On Board. The program awards six residencies of at least three months, each with a €5,000 prize, from a total budget of €30,000. Unlike the previous Movin'up initiative, which only supported residencies abroad, On Board also supports projects within Italy, aiming to foster the most interesting and innovative artistic research. Eligible applicants are visual artists, designers, and contemporary art curators (individuals or groups) aged 18 to 35, of Italian nationality or foreigners residing in Italy for at least one year. Candidates must submit a detailed project proposal, demonstrate contacts with host institutions, provide a letter of admission/invitation/collaboration, and specify a residency period between November 30, 2017, and April 30, 2018. A national commission of experts, organizers, and an external member will select six winners. Applications close on September 22, 2017.
