MIAS Architects' Triangulated Steel Gateway Redefines Barcelona Logistics Park Entrance

MIAS Architects has finalized a new entryway for the Zona Franca Logistics Park located in Barcelona, Spain, a key logistics hub along the Mediterranean Corridor. This initiative reimagines a standard entrance as a distinctive spatial and territorial feature, transcending the conventional gate concept. The design incorporates a triangulated steel lattice that creates an irregular, faceted form, with mesh-covered vertical surfaces that incorporate the park's signage. The density of the lattice changes throughout the frame, following a process-driven narrative logic, which imparts an organic feel despite its industrial materials and precise geometry. Supported by slender steel columns, the roof appears light and almost ethereal, extending as a suspended landscape over traffic lanes to efficiently manage and organize vehicle movement. MIAS Architects envisions the gateway as an open system that generates unexpected complexity from a limited set of components, bridging territorial and human dimensions. This project serves as a modern landmark for the logistics park, highlighting the site while framing the daily flow of vehicles.
