miart Digital 2020: Italy's First Online Art Fair Launches

Italy's inaugural fully digital art fair, miart digital 2020, is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 13, a decision made two months earlier in response to the pandemic. To aid Milan's recovery, Fiera Milano is organizing a hybrid event from April 9 to 11, 2021. The event, managed by Artshell, offers tiered access: VIPs and press receive codes, while the general public can register directly. The homepage includes a search feature and a slideshow of artworks, although the slideshow is disorganized. Exhibitors are grouped into categories such as Contemporary, Master, Emergent, Design, and Edition & Magazine. Each gallery page provides presentations and contact information. While there are no virtual tours and images are 2D, a chat function is available for communication with galleries, but no online sales have been reported. Young gallerists have struggled to connect with collectors, and an 'Events' page highlights exhibitions during Art Week.
