Miart 2025: 7 must-see modern works at Milan's art fair
At the 22nd edition of miart in Milan, alongside contemporary and design sections, modern art is strongly represented. Seven standout works include Hans Hartung's T1962-U15 (1962) at Eidos Immagini Contemporanee Asti, exemplifying his grattage technique; Manlio Rho's Composizione 1936 at Cardelli e Fontana Arte Contemporanea Sarzana, blending Russian suprematist geometry with Lombard warmth; Piero Gilardi's Fichi d'India at Galleria Paola Verrengia, a polyurethane foam piece from the 1960s; Gianfranco Zappettini's La trama e l'ordito n. 3 at Mazzoleni Torino Londra, a monumental red work of Pittura Analitica; Nanni Balestrini's 1969-2007 at Galleria Michela Rizzo Venezia, a visual poetry piece featuring a manual tag cloud reading "Potere operaio" first shown at the 1972 Quadriennale di Roma; Maurizio Nannucci's This side is blue (1969) at Galleria Enrico Astuni Bologna, a neon light sculpture; and Enzo Cucchi's 1970 at Zero… Milano, part of a stand dedicated to the 1970s Transavanguardia.
