MIA Photo Fair 2019: 130 Galleries, New Beyond Photography Section, and Design Focus
The MIA Photo Fair is set to return to the Porta Nuova area of Milan from March 22 to 25, 2019, marking its ninth edition with participation from 130 galleries, including 90 from abroad. Directors Fabio Castelli and Lorenza Castelli are focusing on cultural initiatives, featuring conferences centered on photography. Important topics will include the natural world in relation to the Triennale exhibition 'Broken Nature' (March 1–September 1, 2019) and the celebrations for Leonardo da Vinci at Biblioteca Ambrosiana. The event's poster is designed by Norwegian photographer Rune Guneriussen. A new segment, 'Beyond Photography,' will showcase galleries such as A100 gallery, Galleria Massimo Minini, and Progettoarte elm. Architect Fabio Novembre will emphasize architecture, and a cash prize will be awarded for architectural photography. Additionally, the RaM Sarteano Prize will allow artists to display their work at Rocca Manenti from July to September 2019.
