MFAH Hosts 19th Latin Wave Festival with Oscar-Nominated Brazilian Thriller
From April 24 to April 26, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) will present the 19th annual Latin Wave: New Films from Latin America festival. Under the guidance of artistic director Carlos A. Gutiérrez, the event will showcase nine feature films hailing from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. The festival will wrap up on April 26 at 5 p.m. with the screening of O agente secreto (The Secret Agent), an Academy Award-nominated film by Kleber Mendonça Filho, which garnered four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Additionally, the U.S. premiere of Enrique Bellande's digitally restored 2005 film Camisea will be presented. Other featured filmmakers include Laura Casabé, Simón Mesa Soto, Daniel Hendler, Diego Céspedes, and Gabriel Mascaro. Screenings will take place at the Brown Auditorium and Lynn Wyatt Theater, with free admission for students with ID on April 26.
