MEXTRÓPOLI 2026 Announces Lineup for Architecture Festival in Mexico City
MEXTRÓPOLI, the Festival of Architecture and City, will hold its 13th edition from September 17 to 20, 2026, in Mexico City under the theme "Movimientos" (Movements), exploring the city as a system in permanent transformation. The festival will feature keynote conferences on September 18 at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, with speakers including Pritzker Prize 2024 winner Riken Yamamoto, Lina Ghotmeh, Junya Ishigami, Manuel Aires Mateus, Roger Boltshauser, and the Mexican studio LANZA Atelier (founded by Isabel Abascal and Alessandro Arienzo), designers of the Serpentine Pavilion 2026. Additional participants include Anna Puigjaner, Josep Ferrando, Carlos Jiménez (from Rice University), Beatriz Colomina, and Mark Wigley. The program also includes the exhibition "Entretejidas. Arquitectas mexicanas entre presente, pasado y futuro" curated by Zaida Muxí Martínez at the Colegio de San Ildefonso, featuring over 150 female architects. The winning pavilion of the Arquine No. 28 Competition, "el muro" designed by a team from Juiz de Fora, Brazil, will be installed in public space. Urban installations and architectural tours will honor Teodoro González de León (centenary of his birth) and Mathias Goeritz, and include routes based on the Guía CDMX published by Arquine.
