Mexico City's Art Week 2020 Showcases Fairs, Performance, and Global Dialogue

From February 4-9, 2020, Mexico City hosted La Semana de Arte, featuring events such as Zona Maco and Feria de Arte Material, reinforcing its reputation as a center for art. The Material Art Fair, held at Frontón México, emphasized accessibility and showcased emerging talent, under the direction of Brett Schultz and collaborators Isa Castilla and Rodrigo Feliz since 2014. A notable performance, Paloma (2020), by Estonian artist Kris Lemsalu, included Kyp Malone and Barbara Sánchez-Kane at Plaza de La República. Exhibitors like Muy Gallery with Cecy Gómez and OMR with Yann Gerstberger’s tapestry Untitled (2020) contributed to the event, along with Santiago de Paoli at LuLu, Irak Morales at Neri/Barranco, and Gabriel Orozco’s Tracing Money (2020) at Kurimanzutto, highlighting the cultural richness of Mexico City.
