publication · 2026-04-27

Norwegian saxophonist Mette Henriette released her second album Drifting on January 20, 2023, via ECM Records, recorded at the Munch Museum in Oslo before its public opening. The album features pianist Johan Lindvall and cellist Judith Hamann, with cover photography by Anton Corbijn. Henriette describes the work as very different from her 2015 debut, exploring unexpected turns. The recording took advantage of a quiet museum space and a new Steinway piano, achieving studio-quality sound. The master was produced at ECM's La Buissonne studio under founder Manfred Eicher's supervision. Henriette has also performed at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and collaborated with Marina Abramović, emphasizing how architecture and art influence her performances.
