Metronimìe Festival Returns to Turin with Focus on Performative Poetry

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The fourth edition of Metronimìe, a festival dedicated to performative poetry, takes place in Turin from June 13 to 16, 2024. Organized by Atti Impuri Poetry Slam and Associazione Amalgama, the event features performances, concerts, spoken word, readings, poetry slams, workshops, talks, exhibitions, and editorial projects. Artistic direction is by poet and performer Alessandra Racca, with Dario Santo as organizational director. The 2024 theme is "Corpi" (Bodies), explored through various artistic languages intersecting with poetry. The festival opened on June 8 with a performance by the project Kyoto, blending beatbox with traditional Puglian elements. On June 13, Edizioni Pulcinolumaca presents a pop-up exhibition at Archivio Tipografico, followed by a conversation on sound and sign, culminating in the performance "Abissi" combining anarcopoetry and noise. On June 14, OFF TOPIC hosts readings and multimedia performances by Paolo Agrati, Simone Savogin, Elisa Morciano, and Teresa Priano. The final day, June 16, includes a workshop with Marko Miladinovic, a tea ceremony, and a book presentation. Poetry slams, where poets are judged by randomly selected audience juries, have fueled the growth of oral poetry in Italy and globally, with winners advancing to national finals organized by LIPS (Lega Italiana Poetry Slam) and then to European and world stages.
